Gibraltar

Gibraltar, Gibraltar

Affectionately known as Gib or The Rock, Gibraltar is a little slice of Britain in the Mediterranean. And, just like the motherland, it’s a small stretch of land with a lot to offer. The history here is largely military-related – you’ll find Nelson’s anchorage where the body of Nelson was brought back to land after the Battle of Trafalgar, and the Parson’s Lodge Battery that dates back to 1875. Elsewhere, wildlife steals the show. Check out the cheeky Barbary apes or go whale-watching in the Strait.

  • Explore the Rock’s famous attractions like the Moorish Castle and the fascinating Gibraltar Museum, where you can learn about the island’s role in the World Wars as well as its prehistory.
  • Inside the Rock, you’ll find more miles of road than on the outside. Check out the Great Siege Tunnels and St Michael’s Cave.

Overview

Chasing the sun – leaving from Naples sailing west to the fun island of Mallorca before leaving the Mediterranean behind as we start our Atlantic crossing after Gibraltar. The orchid island of Madeira is our last European port of call as we track across our south western bound route to the warm Caribbean and finding landfall at Antigua. This beautiful island ringed by coral reefs and fine sandy beaches is where Lord Nelson made his base in the 1780’s. The next port is Amber Cove which is part of the Dominican Republic. Be prepared for a day full of fun and hedonistic pleasures as we enjoy the beach, the shops and luxurious facilities of this private tropical haven. Our next port of call, Grand Turk, is a perfect cruise ship destination. You’ll find a small tropical island with a great selection of water sports, interesting historical sights, and best of all, exquisite beaches. The Turks and Caicos features a beautiful marine environment, and it’s no wonder that many of the island’s top activities happen on or in the ocean. There’s lounging on the beach, scuba diving, snorkelling, boat charterskayakingstand up paddle boardingfishing, and whale watching. After 19 fabulous days, our Transatlantic Adventure draws to a close on the Island of Jamaica in the popular port city of Montego Bay.
